I make as many “And” choices
as possible. One Mother’s Day,
Chickpea gave me a charm
that says “Palm Trees Make
Mommy So So Happy.” This
is true. And I absolutely love
time with my best girlfriends,
our children, and exercising so
I have combined all three into
“Sprints and Sprinkles.” We all
meet at the beach, run rounds
of sprints and play, and then go
to Sprinkles for cupcakes
(and sometimes ice cream, too).

Nurturing myself is an act of
self-commitment and self-discipline. When I nurture myself,
I feel more present and resourced. There are numerous
ways I nurture myself: through
ritual and ceremony, drinking
herbal teas, taking and making
flower essences, gardening and
being in Nature, pole dancing,
being with sisters, traveling, and
of course, being in service. All
of these fill me up and allow me
the privilege of living a most
exquisite and turned on life.

Jorge Luis Borges once said,
"I have always imagined
that Paradise will be a kind
of library.” My version of
heaven is a library on a verdant
mountainside overlooking a
green valley with snow-capped
peaks over which the sun sets.
My current reads include Juan
Mascaro's elegant Bhagavad
Gita, Robert Johnson's archetypal study of love, We, and
Thomas Moore's collection of
James Hillman's best thinking
in archetypal psychology,
A Blue Fire.
As a mom of three young
children and the founder of
a nonprofit, I take time each
day to nourish myself. I buy
flowers at the farmers market
on Saturday, take time while
walking the dogs to enjoy the
sounds of owls in the distance (yes, even in Golden
Gate Park!), enjoy a moment
with my child, or savor a few
minutes in bed each morning to
check in by myself before getting up and beginning the day.
