Hridaya Mudra translates into English as
“Heart Seal.” Drawing the index finger to
the base of the thumb returns the individual heart-mind to its essential state of being
grounded. Joining the tip of the thumb to
the middle finger stabilizes the circulation
of vital energy in the organism as a whole.
It is notable that in Chinese medicine the
heart meridian terminates at the little finger,
so its extension here suggests a liberation of
the spirit of the heart into joy. Sitting quietly
while holding this mudra can help center the
feelings of the heart and facilitate emotional
balance and release.
