VEDIC ASTROLOGY BY SAM GEPPI
At the beginning of the month, plan for the Mercury retrograde cycle by getting
your technological affairs in order.
FEBRUARY 4 THROUGH MARCH 26
Personal strength versus compromise with others will become an
issue for more than a month, starting February 4 when Mars enters Libra, until March 25. Mars is the planet of asserting our
individuality, and Libra is the sign of compromise. To make things
more tricky, Mars will go retrograde in Libra during this time.
There could be a lot of turmoil in all relationships (including business ones) as you calibrate the proper balance between self-will
and compromise—honoring your needs and respecting others.
FEBRUARY 6 THROUGH 28
Expect some technical challenges, unexpected delays, and communication snafus from February 6 through 28 when Mercury
goes retrograde from Aquarius to Capricorn. But don’t be so dramatic about it; these little blips on the radar screen are meant to
alert you to a potential lack of care to life’s details. By facing these
details during the Mercury retrograde cycle, we can improve these
issues over time.
A time of optimism, hope, and teaching occurs between February
10 and 11 when the Moon and Jupiter join in Gemini. This can be
an auspicious time to plan for classes that you are teaching or that
you want to take. Be on the lookout for great teachers, especially
from the wisdom traditions.
Expect some fiery emotions and strong expressions of individuality on February 14, coinciding with the Full Moon in Leo - Happy
Valentine’s Day! Make sure to select that gift with the utmost care
this year. Leo is a sign of our individual pride and desire to radiate power. At best, that power is an offering to others. At worst,
it is a demand from them. This Full Moon is opposite the Sun in
Aquarius, where our individuality is weak. The key to the Full
Moon is harmonizing with its opposite. In this case, radiate loving light to those with a weaker self-image.
This Full Moon happens in Magha Nakshatra, bringing a focus
on family and tradition. This includes your divine family, and the
lineage of sacred traditions which influence you. This Nakshatra
is analogous to the King on the throne. Use your power wisely.
Emotionally intense days are guaranteed between when the Moon
FEBRUARY 24 THROUGH 25
is in Libra with Mars, Saturn, and Rahu—three challenging ener-
gies. Be careful to not get triggered; but it will be hard to resist.
Jealousy and frustration with others are sure to be factors at some
point now. A more creative choice is compassion for yourself and
others. Take greater accountability for every circumstance you
have co-created with the people in your life. Also, make a deeper
commitment to eternal forms of happiness. If that doesn’t work,
remember “Karma is a bitch,” and you will regret acting harshly.
Devotion and spiritual promise flows abundantly between when
the Moon joins Venus in Sagittarius and is aspected by Jupiter
in Gemini. If you failed to resist giving into the emotional triggers mentioned above, you will be suffering for that behavior
now. The Moon/Venus conjunction fills the mind with desire for
beauty. The aspect from Jupiter extends that beauty into the sublime, etheric realm. These two ideals are often at odds with each
other, much like our romantic partners may be in conflict with
our spiritual values and principles at times. Be inspired by life’s
A new cycle of service and contribution begins with the New
Moon in Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign of selflessness, where our
individual nature becomes universalized in the collective. This
may lead us to a pseudo-humility that masks a lack of confidence.
Or, when more empowered, there will be an authentic drive to
contribute to situations and causes greater than ourselves along
with the things that outlive our feeble lifetime. Aquarius is ruled
by Saturn, who is exalted and powerful in Libra, showing support
for this more empowered choice.
This New Moon happens in Shatabishak Nakshatra, ruled by the
God Varuna, the maker of the seasons and universal order. It is
also related to clouds charged with atmospheric power. This is the
Nakshatra of eccentric genius and out-of-the-box thinking.
