For years, Echo Park sat quietly in the
shadows while its hipper neighbor, Silver
Lake, received all the attention. While Silver Lake is known for its reservoir, architectural gems, trendy restaurants, music
festivals, and its abundance of Yoga studios, Echo Park is known for, well, its lake.
Change is in the air thanks to a new
Yoga studio that recently opened in the
heart of Echo Park: Yogala.
Set in a former artist studio on Echo
Park Avenue less than a mile north of
Sunset Boulevard, Yogala is a cozy neighborhood Yoga studio owned by Samantha
Jones, an East Coast resident who followed her husband back to his native LA.
Noting that there were no Yoga studios
located near her new home, Samantha
took it into her own hands to remedy the
situation; now many of Yogala's classes
are filled with locals who walk and bike
to class. The retail space is likewise filled
with products from local businesses.
The affordably priced class selection is
just as eclectic as the students who drop
by. From Vinyasa Flow to Kundalini,
Yoga for Runners (including a three-mile run through nearby Elysian Park) to
Sound Healing, Yoga en Español to Tip-pie Toes Ballet – Yogala has something
